Since Silver Girl put us in the mood, these pictures are for your viewing pleasure (in case you haven't seen them before.)

And not to be outdone, lets have a game going. Can you tell what each picture is? 1 point each

1- Salmaniya Hospital
2- (shadow of a guy on a mooring stump, looks like he's on the crapper) but I think it's Mina Manama
3- Precursor to public trans? or labor wagon to the oil fields?
4- Old Bridge/ferry (can't tell for sure) to Muharraq
5- This is around Sh. Hamad rd, just a few blocks from Central Market, the triangular patch triggered a flashback...
6- Muharraq Souq
7- Old Post Office behind Bab Al Bahrain
8- Could be Manama, but the radio tower in the background is throwing me off...
9- Odd that it doesn't have windows and is clearly a public building, movie theatre perhaps?
10- Ain Al Adhari

actually DIB... very good guesses... the first one was the post office...
the third was a bapco bus.. the fourth was the causeway to muharraq as you said
The fifth was alkhalifa road (getting you into souk.. you can see alfathil mosque's manara)
sixth was the covered souk in manama.. seventh was the bab al bahrain looking at the post office
nine was the cinema, and the last one was adhari

How old are you exactly?

I have even better ones of the early 60's, but I dont remember exactly where I kept them. I'll post those too and contribute them all to the website you suggested, mahmood. Thank you guys.

great! we can then all party together ;)

jokes aside, you can access a hell of a lot of pix from the Bapco archives.

I have a stack of their Bapco news magazine as well which has loads of pix but they have the originals.

You would be doing us all a favour by achiving them electronically and allowing people to access them and relive some aspects of the past.

I am sorry if I am pushing u but I really do wish I have time on my hands...I really am into these things...may be I should consider quitting my daytime job and focus my energies on such projects.. I am not finding comfort in the present, so perhaps recoiling into the past will give me some peace!

Another place I saw great pix at is the documentation centre, which is now probably part of the Crown Prince's Court. They have great documents and pix there..

The Oil Museum in the middle of nowhere (near oil well no. 1) also has great pix..and let's not forget the bahrain national museum..

oops...and there are private collections will lots of individuals whom I can't mention here because they will know that it was me who let the lion out of the cage!

SBG that is not a bad idea at all. I already have a bunch of interesting ones in my email, but they dont load anymore for some reason. The ones with people and motion are more interesting to me than buildings and oil rigs. So I can have access to Bapco archives? I heard of an exibition in geant
I guess a while back.. I was out of the country back then... heard it was good.

I'll see what I can get my hands around, if you'll be kind enough to help me out chronologically sort it out.
