what it means to be bahraini

What it means to be Bahraini:

It means that you stand in line, and people cut in front of you, but its OK.. they're more V.I.P. than you.

Your voice counts when you support the government.. but its oblivion when you don't.

you're a very neutral person in public.. but you're very racist when you're with your friends.

you're very good at telling whats wrong.. but you somehow have a hard time telling whats right.

you can play both sides for the middle.

You blame others (neutralized citizens) for all your problems, and never thought once of progress.

You scream off the top of your lungs "Come and save us U.N." but you stand agains womens' roghts, minority's rights, and freedom of speech.

Here are a couple more:

-Calmly informing newcomers to Bahrain that the daily protests are a "good" day.

-Connections render you immune to such a silly thing as the law. (I was in a store when an old Saudi man proclaimed that "laws are for poor people"...no kidding.

Is it also Bahraini to generalise about other Bahrainis, Joker? ;)

Seriously though...I know where you are coming from, but just to cover your back, I think you should always, with pieces like this, have a line in there somewhere that makes the reader know that you are not talking about every single Bahraini.

"You study abroad for few years and come back you think you are Aristotle.

Being exposed to other cultures definately makes you more enlightened than if you only deal with a small circle of people.
And maybe a few years abroad will do your grammer a little good, my friend.

Here's another:

Trash the airport and then when you're arrested claim that your human rights are being violated.

On the last part of the blog you mentioned "but you stand agains womens' roghts". There seems to be a lot of with and against on that subject but whenever i ask someone if they actually know what has been listed as "laws" for the A7wal il shekh9ya their answer would be that "they heard" this .. and "they heard" that. Is it posted anywhere?

One more thing just to clarify, if your talking about the A7wal il shekh9ya, a lot of people are against it not because of the actual content but because when stated it can be changed easily by the government and therefore they want some garuntees that it wont be changed unless consulted with the people

As opposed to an ad hoc decision in a case-by-case system that boils down to how good the judge feels that morning?

inshallah they will never be implemented. Women's rights meeen? Who wrote these? Some group of people allahu 2a3lam meen in the past 50 years or so? This goes along with the human rights the UN is flaunting around while it sucked the blood out of Iraq during the joke that is the 'Oil for Food Program'. These documents are worth nothing. I am not against women having rights, rights to own, to have businesses, to free speach and so forth. But the Western woman's rights is exactly what it is, WESTERN woman's rights. We should not close out eyes and blindly follow them wherever they go. Woman and men are given their rights in Islam walhamdullilah. I don't think we need any copies of what the westerners think when we have what Allah wa rasooluh said.
